Yulia Tymoshenko: Approved by the Parliament law on ban of gambling business on Ukraine's territory is equitable
Approved by the Verkhovna Rada Law ¹4268 “On banning of the gambling business in Ukraine” is strict though correct. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko announced on Friday during a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers.
“Though rather strict but, to my mind, equitable Law has been adopted by the Parliament today,” Yulia Tymoshenko stressed.
Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized the Law comes in force from the moment of its publishing and acts until the legislation stipulating creation of special gambling zones is adopted. The Premier assured territorial placement of the gambling business will be agreed with society on a compulsory basis: “If a society is ready to welcome such trouble to their territory, only after such decision we will be thinking where to locate this gambling institution”.
The Head of Government stressed infringers of the norms of this Law will be the subject to financial sanctions, while failing to follow the law envisages criminal responsibility – imprisonment for a period of 5 years.
Yulia Tymoshenko hopes the President would sign the Law within nearest time and “will protect the nation from moral degradation”. According to her, the tragedy in Dnipropetrovsk over the fire in a slot-machine hall has revealed the problem of a much larger scale – of moral and spiritual character, that’s why solving of this issue proves urgent.
At the same time, the author of approved today by the Verkhovna Rada Law on banning of the gambling business in Ukraine, people’s deputy Valerii Pysarenko thanked to the Government for a principal position in the issue of banning gambling business: “Unless the Government having demonstrated resoluteness and will, the Parliament wouldn’t have resolved to take that up so soon”.
The people’s deputy accentuated the activity in elaboration of legislative acts on creating specially allotted territories beyond the cities for this kind of business will be held jointly with the Government.
