Gaming business venues to have been built in Kuban by July 2009
The officials of Krasnodar region are planning to arrange bidding for land plots in the “Azov City” gaming zone. It was reported by the press service of the regional department of investments and project support.
“On July 1st, Kuban`s authorities will offer bids for 20 land plots in the gaming zone to Russian and foreign investors. It implies long-term lease (of the land plots) with the right of buyout once the facilities are built,” says the press release.
According to Vice Governor of the region Alexander Remezkov, the gaming business venues will be built in Scherbinovski district by July 2009. “We are not going to retreat,” declared Remezkov. He remarked that Kuban`s gaming business “generates 2 billion rubles for the budget annually” and stated that the region aims at preventing the gaming business from going underground.
According to the statement, “the gaming zone will be built just like Cossack villages were once built – with one street in the middle of nowhere.” The investors will build first casinos and hotels in the area of 100 hectares, around which the entire Azov gaming zone will be developed. The regional authorities have already offered them a scheme of land-use planning and a detailed area development plan,” said the press representatives of the regional department of investments and project support.
They reported that the regional authorities would allocate about 500 million rubles to provide “Azov City” properties with power, gas, water and to ensure minimal connection fees. Water, gas and power supply has been included in the regional programs and in the investment programs of natural monopolies. “The regional architects have already confirmed the schemes of bringing engineering and transport infrastructure to the zone of primary reclamation, and by June 1st, 2008, the project design and estimate documentation will be ready,” says the press release.
The regional authorities go on looking for investors able to contribute USD 3-5 billion to the gaming zone. “The government bets on the Austrian business – an agreement will be signed soon with the company which is ready to build 100 sqm of hotels and casinos within 20 hectares in Scherbinovski region,” says the document.
