Maximum tax rate fixed for Kamchatka’s gaming business
From January 1st, 2008, gambling operators will pay to the budget 125 thousand rubles per gaming table a month, 7.5 thousand rubles per slot machine, 25 thousand rubles per totalizator or bookmaker cash desk.
In the opinion of Boris Nevzorov, a member of People’s Deputies’ Council, gambling taxes will make it possible to solve the issue of the regional budget replenishment. “He who wants to gamble will go gambling anyway – either underground or to casinos which pay the tax to the RF constituent territory. And if people want to gamble and leave their money in casinos, and the tax from it goes to the budget, - is that bad? But the rate is fixed at maximum”, stated Boris Nevzorov.
As the National News Agency’s reporter was informed by Irina Andryukhina, a deputy of Regional Council, the gambling tax profits of the regional budget may be over 120 million rubles in 2008 only. “This money can be useful if it is allotted for fulfilling social programs. Meanwhile inspections of Kamchatka’s gambling facilities will go on. The deputies and regulatory agencies will regularly evaluate the lawfulness of gambling operations. Including tracking the age of visitors to gaming clubs: they shall be no younger than 18 yars old”, she said.
