Not clear yet where Primorie gaming zone will appear
Almost a year ago it was globally announced that a gaming zone will be built on the coast of Muravjinaya Bay in the south of Primorie region.
The transport accessibility of the site has played one of the key roles in the choice. The bay is 25 kilometers away from the airport in Artyom and about 70 kilometers away from the sea port of Vladivostok. At the end of July the project was presented in Vladivostok during the APEC meeting. Gaming halls, hotels, entertainment complexes were planned on Cherepakha cape. Swimming pools, dance floors, fitness clubs were projected. However, according to “Vostok-Media” referring to the “Komsomolskaya Pravda” newspaper, not even a slightest building action has been traced by now.
After German Gref`s visit to the capital of Primorie on August 7th, the rumour had it in Vladivostok that the Far-East “Las Vegas” would emerge not in the outskirts of Artyom at all. The Minister of economic development announced then, “We have not specified the site decisively, we have discussed possible options today, and we will continue the discussion in Moscow”.
The administration of Primorie region neither denies nor confirms the information on relocation of the gaming zone. They say nothing is clear yet. However, the flat prices on Russkiy boosted 10 times – from $5 thousand to $50 thousand. Probably it is due to the APEC summit which is to be held on the island in 2012.
An unofficial source in the regional administration informed the “KP”, “It has been decided to build the gaming zone on Russkiy. One of these days in the administration there will be a meeting with potential investors from Japan, South Korea, China, Australia and other countries. The capitalists show great interest in the project, and they are ready to invest billions of rubles in construction. And its approximate cost is about 15 billion rubles”.
Meanwhile as early as in June Michail Kulakov, a member of Primorie Gambling Association, expressed big doubts with regards to the feasibility of creating a fashionable entertainment town by July 1st, 2009:
- It takes up to half a year to project one building. No contests on launching the construction of the gaming zone have been held so far. The site on Cherepakha Cape near Muravjinaya Bay was implied. And now, before the first foundation pit is dug out, there must be a tender for survey work. It should be determined where the geology allows building a skyscraper, and where it is safe to build only garden pavilions. And it is not clear how, there being no bridge across Eastern Bosporus, the equipment and building materials will be brought to the island. By the way, there is no confirmed project of the bridge yet as well”.
