Kaliningrad region not to get taxes from “Baltic Las-Vegas”
The budget of Kaliningrad region should not rely on gambling revenues after the construction of “Baltic Las-Vegas” in the region. This opinion was expressed on Tuesday by regional minister of finance Elena Matveeva in her interview to “Baltic Plus” radio.
”It is hardly reasonable if all the four regions get such tax preferences for them due to gaming zone operations. Therefore, most probably, this tax will either become a federal source of revenues or be distributed like an excise tax. But it is 99% true that we will not get this tax solely for our budget, as well as other regions,” stated Matveeva.
According to her, Kaliningrad region may expect new job opportunities to appear and tourists to flow in. This indirect effect, in Matveeva`s opinion, is more essential than gambling tax collections to the regional budget.
“It gives a stimulus to trade and consumer market development. There will be a chance to draw capital related to operations of the gaming zone, hotels, entertainment centres, road construction and laying communications”, concluded Matveeva.
