Nizhny Novgorod government continues regretting liquidation of gaming business
Nizhny Novgorod government will make its final judgment on the destiny of gambling facilities in the region within a month. According to IA REGNUM correspondent, it was announced by Irina Zhivikhina, Vice Governor, at the briefing on August 16th.
She said all gambling facilities will either be made compliant with the new legislative requirements or have to be liquidated. It seems impossible to decide on the closure of all gambling facilities at once. According to Zhivikhina, “budget revenues from this business are essential”.
As IA REGNUM previously informed, from July 1st, 2007, requirements to gambling facilities have been toughened. Federal Tax Service Administration states that 70% of Nizhny Novgorod gambling facilities do not comply with the federal legislation requirements.
Meanwhile in 2006 gambling revenues of the budget accounted for 480 million rubles, and in 2007 it is expected to receive another 600 million rubles. According to the estimates of the Administration on interaction with legislative authorities of the regional Parliament State and legal department, in the event of complete liquidation of gambling facilities within the region, the regional budget will lose 244 million rubles.
