Perm Gambling Development Association ceases its operations
The Founders of Perm Gambling Development Association (PGDA) decided to close the organization, as «bc» was informed. According to former executive director of the Association Sergey Skotorenko, the decision was made mainly due to the pressure from legislative authorities and the introduction of tough rules which came into effect from July 1st, 2007. To comply with the rules, gambling operators must have assets for the amount of at least 600 million rubles, which caused a lot of gambling facilities to disappear, and Perm businessmen actually left the business – most of the gambling facilities belonging to Perm businessmen were bought out by large chain structures of Moscow and other cities. PGDA, which consisted of about ten companies, used to control the compliance with the legislation by gambling operators and participate in developing legislative initiatives on the regional level.
