A chain of gambling facilities to open in Tatarstan
The only legal casino in Tatarstan is opening today in the town of Kamskiye Polyany, where the construction of an atomic power station was frozen about 20 years ago. Several slot halls will operate there as well.
According to the “Novaya Gazeta” correspondent Boris Bronstein, the republican authorities, which had adopted the local law on placing gambling facilities before the federal gambling law was passed, allotted two reservations for gaming business: one in Kamskiye Polyany, the other one in Kazan, within the territory of a racetrack. However, gambling operators did not go to the racetrack, being apparently concerned about breaking the federal law, which bans placing slot halls within sports facilities.
The “Novaya Gazeta” correspondent did not manage to get a comment in Tatarstan Gambling Association: its former management explained that Association no longer existed.
