Yaroslavl deputies trying to handle gaming business
The Yaroslavl region gaming business is haunting the people`s elects. The other day several deputies of the regional Duma presented a proposal to ban gaming business within the region.
Pursuant to one draft proposed by deputy Belov, the ban shall be applied to the most mass and popular “one-armed bandits” – slot machines installed in the majority of casinos and slot halls.
Pursuant to the other draft proposed by deputy Piotr Gubochkin, the ban shall be applied to Yaroslavl region casinos. Actually they are just a few, but, however strange it may seem, they are still appearing. For example, a largest casino has appeared in Svoboda Street, though there are less than two years left till the complete state ban.
The federal legislation fixes the year 2009 as the deadline for the gaming business ban. However, prior to it each regional parliament is entitled to establish its own “X Hour”. Yaroslavl deputies assume that such a deadline shall be January 1st, 2008. Still the success can hardly be expected. A similar project was declined in March this year. Deputies decided that the regional budget could not cope without 300mn rubles it receives from the gaming business.
