Gaming business in Kamchatka is under threat of closure
What will happen to the roulette and slot machines in Kamchatka? Soon the deputies of Kamchatka Parliament will have to decide – whether to let it stay as it is till 2009 – the time when the special gaming zones (in the Far East such a zone will be set up in Primorie) start operating or whether the gaming business shall be banned in the nearest future.
Today a working group has been organized in the regional Council, and it will design the relevant legislation. The legislation has both opponents and advocates. The latter, in particular, stand for letting gambling facilities stay right till 2009, as gaming clubs pay hefty money which are brought in the regional budget directly. How much are we talking? Over 120mn rubles a year.
According to the deputies` data, all in all in Kamchatka there are 2 250 gaming tables and slot machines. Actually, there is one slot machine per one hundred residents of the region. It is probably the highest figure in Russia. Should the deputies decide to ban the gaming business on the peninsula, then, most likely, slot machines will have to disappear as soon as by September 1st, 2007, or January 1st, 2008.
