The Ministry of Finance suggested evicting casinos away from cities
The Ministry of Finance prepared amendments for the legislation regulating gaming business which prohibit arranging gaming zones in residential areas. This is the information of “RBC daily”.
MinFin suggests building “Russian Las Vegases” from nothing. Besides, the officials advocate prolonging licenses for gaming operations from 5 to 25 years. MinFin also suggests extending the transition period for half a year more – till July 2009. However businessmen doubt that the zones will be ready by the time proposed.
The newspaper informs that the government disliked some of MinFinsuggestions, and the amendments were sent to be revised. The State Duma will consider Min Fin amendments on December 15th when there will be the second reading of the presidential legislation on making four gaming zones in Russia.
According to the legislation proposed by Vladimir Putin and approved by the State Duma in the first reading, in Russia there will be gaming zones of two kinds – zones in residential areas and special gaming zones. They may be created for the period of up to five years by the government decision. The first zones must have been ready by July 1st, 2007.
