Moscow City Duma determined how many and which gambling facilities will be left in the capital
Moscow State Duma toughened the requirements for locating gambling facilities in the capital, as a result of which their number in 2007 will be reduced to 160-170. The city parliament deputies unanimously voted in three readings for the amendments in the law “On placing gaming business locations within the territory of Moscow.
As it was announced by Joseph Orjonikidze, Vice Mayor of Moscow, who presented the amendments, gaming business locations, according to the document, shall be placed in the premises no less than of 200 square metres, including casinos – no less than of 3 thousand square metres. In a casino, there shall be no less than 30 gaming tables and 60 slot machines. Besides, there shall be a restaurant, a bar and a concert area. In a slot location, the official said, “there shall be no less than 60 slot machines, a bar, a toilet, a cloakroom for visitors and a stationary metal detector”.
“At the moment 32 casinos and 135-145 slot locations comply with these requirements. Therefore the number of gambling facilities left will be 160-170,” said Vice Mayor of Moscow Government Joseph Orjonikidze at the session.
In his turn, Moscow State Duma Chairman remarked at the session that they need to think through the prevention measures against “shadow” gaming business that may appear after the complete ban of it in Moscow from July 1st, 2009. “It has been forbidden to drink beer in the streets, but they still go on drinking it as the tradition is,” Platonov set an example.
