In Astrakhan region, gambling facilities will be in entertainment centres only
According to the Astrakhan region legislation “On amending the Astrakhan region law “On placing gambling facilities within the territory of Astrakhan region”, passed on December 28th, 2006, which provides for the limitation of activities involved in gambling organization and arrangement in the region, from the beginning of 2007 such activities will be allowed only in gambling institutions placed in entertainment complexes functioning as of the date the law comes into effect.
The area of an entertainment complex shall not be less than 1500 square metres. The operations of other gambling facilities will have been ceased by July 2007.
Besides, in compliance with the regional legislation, within the first 6 months of the year 2007, all gambling facilities shall re-obtain the document certifying the fact that the location of the gambling facility is agreed with the Astrakhan region licensing authority. The lack of such a document will be considered a ground for deeming the company administratively liable.
As the “Russkoye Radio Astrakhan” radio station announced, passing the law on the regional level was preconditioned by the federal law “On state regulation of activities involved in gambling organization and arrangement and on amending some of the RF legislative regulations”, which provides for making 4 gaming zones beyond which gambling facilities (but for bookmakers’ offices and totalizators) can not be opened.
