Gaming business rebuffs participation in Krasnodar`s “Azov City” project
According to the website of Gaming Business Operators` Association, the project implies building 50 hotels with 35 thousand rooms. A half of them will be 5-star, 30-40% - 3-star, and 15% - 2-star.
In the meantime, Krasnodar region`s authorities officially announce: as soon as by July 2009th the complete engineering infrastructure will have been laid up to the gaming zone. All casinos and hotels built by that time will receive electric power, gas and water. As soon as by the end of this year, it is promised to renovate and build 13 km of motorways at the expense of the budget.
However, there is wheat heading up in the fields meant for casinos so far. But in July the region will sell the first 20 gaming zone land plots in the open tender. The major requirement to the investors is to start development no later than in September this year and to complete it by July 2009.
And gaming business representatives were overcautious about the presentation. According to Vice President of Gaming Business Operators` Association (GBOA) Valeriy Milov, the level of proposed initiatives is higher than all tolerable limits. “How could it be possible to build an entire city by July 1st, 2009, if it takes over a year to build a common block of flats in the centre of Moscow (bearing in mind that there are all the required infrastructure facilities around)? And meanwhile there are 13 months left before the zone starts operating.”
The GBOA website quotes a co-owner of one of the major Moscow casinos: “I personally have come here to have a look at what kind of New Vasyuki they suggest we should build. I am greatly impressed with what I have seen. It seems to me a better scam just can`t be made up.”
Another participant of the conference said that he was not going to bring money into “this poky hole of a place”. “If the state closes us in the end of ends, I will work in another direction. I might open a stock exchange club or a chain of brand shops selling Turkish and Chinese clothes. We do not have any interest in this very project.”
